High Risk Patrol Operations - Rapid Deployment Tactics

This course is designed for Law Enforcement Officers who may be called upon to resolve an active shooter situation in a public venue, school or commercial property. Topics covered include, a historical overview of active situations, incident management, contact team formation and rescue team formation. Practical exercises will be conducted involving simulated active shooter with a variety of realistic scenarios to include shoot/don't shoot situations, injured victims and officer down drills. Included in the course information, is a review of some of the most publicized and recent active shooter tragedies. Students will be instructed in the most crucial components of a successful resolution to an active shooter incident. An emphasis will be placed on incident management, intelligence gathering, unified command, interoperable communications and information sharing with assisting and cooperating agencies. Both single and team tactics for a rapid response and rapid incident management will be taught, as well as, dynamic techniques for dealing with flor plan situations that could occur.
